Education:
As a proud graduate of P & HCC, I understand how this institution serves as the perfect springboard to continue an education. I am thrilled to be a part of the Patrick & Henry Community College tradition of excellence in training tomorrow’s ROCK STARS. I have taught in the public school’s English classroom for 30 years, earning such accolades as 2004 High School Teacher of the Year, 2012 Henry County Teacher of the Year, and various faculty excellence awards. I earned my bachelor’s degree in English and Teaching from James Madison University in 1994 and my master’s degree in teaching from Hollins University in 2008. In November 2011, I earned the National Board Certificate in Teaching-- the highlight of my professional career. Seven years ago, I took a huge, yet wonderful leap, by transitioning from public school to P&HCC as an English Instructor, Teacher Prep Advisor, and the Dual Enrollment Liaison. On a personal level, I find the greatest satisfaction in teaching children, teenagers, and adults daily-- not just about English, but most importantly, about life.
